These two blogging services also provide tutorials and support to help you start creating your blog easily so they are good for beginners. Just sign up and follow the instruction there. What is alexa.com? It is the web information company that provides you traffic data of all websites around the globe. The traffic is calculated using average daily visitors and pageviews over the past three months. The higher traffic that site has the highest rank it is. However, these free blogging services has some limited control of your site like wordpress.com will place its own ads on your website. By the way blogger.com allows you to place your own ads though. Anyway if you want to have all the control over your website, you can choose to make a self hosted site. You can design it to whatever you want it to look like. For this option, it's going to be more complicated but it's still fairly easy. There are many supported tools or software that will help this become so easy. I've seen many people who don't even have any programming knowledge at all start learning it and making nice websites themselves. The really good part is you will gain yourself a ton of new knowledge from doing this. What content you will provide also depends on what type of website or blog your site is. If it's a personal site, you can probably post anything you like, your personal story or anything you want to share but if it's a business site, you should stick with your niche. Don't just post anything or your personal things or things that are not related to your criteria. If you do that, you will just push your customers away from your business site. Your clients only want that value contents that you say what your site is all about. They don't care about something else. HTML is for viewing by people and XML is for search engine. Here is the website that you can go to create sitemaps. http://www.xml-sitemaps.com. It will create both types of files. Download them both HTML and XML files and upload them to your web hosting. Then create a hyperlink to your sitemap, that HTML sitemap file like "yourwebsite.com/sitemap.html".
For the XML sitemap file, you will submit it into search engines. Before you can do that you have to create an account with them first. Here are the three major search engines. Go there and sign up for an account to submit your sitemap. If you know any other search engines that also have this function, you can go do this as well. After creating accounts, follow their simple instructions to submit your XML sitemap file. Every time you update or make any changes to your website, recreate your sitemaps, upload them to your web hosting and resubmitting them to search engines again.
