Is it a really good idea to invest or trade in financial markets especially in FX markets? Should I really consider investing in these markets beside my main job?

Is it true that 95% of traders lose money? And is it true that you can also make an amazingly huge profit? All these are true but it depends on how you treat it... If you treat it like a business, it will be a real business. If you treat it like a gamble, you will get it like the gamble. I have seen many people or newbies made a lot of profits from just investing with little money in just one or two weeks. However, at the end, most of them lost all of their money in just one trade or a few days later. So what should I do to make it right?

These are common questions to new investors and most people. They always curiously doubt about this part of the world. Why? Because, mostly, lots and lots of people heard that you would never make money out of this type of investment. Some said you would lose money 95% of the time. Some said 60% or so. Many, moreover, are even think that it's a gamble and etc.

It really depends on whom you heard it from. Of course if you heard it from those people who mostly lost their money or could not make any profit themselves, what answer would you expect them to tell you? How about those people who believe that it's the gamble? Surely it is the gamble if you treat it like the gamble. And you know what? Unsurprisingly, this is how tons and tons of people have been commonly treating it as so. They only want to make a lot of money but they don't want to work on anything else at all. They don't want to do their homework or do their due diligent each day to study, learn and analyze technically and fundamentally before they start to touch their hands on this. Some just like to copy someone else's trades without any knowledge at all and when they lose money they just keep screaming at those whom they copy the trades from and never blame themselves. Some didn't even know anything or what it really is at all before starting to trade it but they heard that they could make a lot of money so they just jumped right into a market and ended up sitting somewhere on a side road crying losing all their money. Furthermore, many and many have the get rich quick mentality and just want to walk in and hoping to walk out with a million of dollars, trading with high leverage, taking all the risk and again end up losing all the money, sometimes in just a matter of a minute in such a volatile market like Forex market for example. People normally like to get something easily without going through all the hard works in order to make it happen.

I'm not saying that you won't be able to make a lot of profits here but with discipline and the right mind (trading psychology), method (strategies) and money management, I can say that you would be able to make a really lucrative income or an extra income monthly. Still I got to say, it's not easy at all. People who started from scratch, learned to trade, are making a really good living at it. A lot of people quit their main jobs and became full time traders after they happily found that they could make more than what they normally made, in a year with their main jobs, within a month.

The truth is, investing or trading is also a business and it's the good business too. You have to treat it exactly like the business. You know you could similarly call other businesses gambler as well if you treat it as so. For example, you just start one business without any researches, no learning, no analyzing, no researching on a target market, no strategies and hoping the company to start growing and making profits itself without doing anything or having any knowledge at all. That is also a pure gambler. However, no matter what kind of businesses it is, there is always a risk but it would definitely be a lot riskier or completely risky to do something without doing a research or learning about it at all.

Well, some people might also get lucky making a lot of money gambling in financial markets. If you choose to gamble, that is fine, but you should still treat it like professional, calculating odds and acting only when it points in your favor. Even so, most importantly, you should always keep your money management as your first priority. Without money management, I can assure you that you will wipe out all your money quickly. Either an investor, or a gambler, you should only use the money that you can afford to lose. Because this matter will really impact your trading psychology and it will often cause you to lose more money especially when you are so scared to lose it. The market is so smart. If it knows that you're scared, it will take all you've got so easily. Still, I'm not encouraging you to treat it as the gamble anyway.

So if you are interested in getting into the investment or trading in financial markets, in my opinion, it's not a bad idea. If you're looking for a way to make an extra income beside your main job, this might not be such a bad idea. Because like in Forex market, it opens 24 hours starting from 5pm EST on Sunday until 4pm EST on Friday so you can choose any convenient time that suit you best. Anyway, no matter what your choice is, you have to take it seriously and do it like professional.

I used to invest in stock markets for 2 years. After that I've started investing in Forex market, commodities, and CFDs since 2009. I absolutely fell in love with it and then I stopped investing in stock markets. I really enjoy being active in thinking and learning new things, following what's going on around the globe. Being an investor, I really have to keep myself up to date with so many things, which I really enjoy it, not only economy but also like politic, war, natural disasters, incidences, or any other situations around the world. It makes me see and understand how many things work and impact each other. It's like I can understand how this world connects and works a lot better, seeing it in a different point of view. In the past I would never understand all these at all. Now I really see that the financial education is so important to us  and it's so much fun as well. The best part is I have all the freedom I need. I can work anywhere with just a laptop or even a smartphone.
